Disneyland has two seasonal entertainment offerings that you won’t want to miss: the Christmas Fantasy Parade and Believe…In Holiday Magic Fireworks Spectacular.
The Christmas Fantasy Parade has been around for nearly 40 years. It has received many significant updates over the years, but remains a classic experience. Some of the best parts are the snowflake dancers on roller skates, the Dickens carolers, and seeing Santa and his reindeer in the finale. Although you can watch the parade anywhere along the parade route, there is a certain charm to seeing the production from Main Street USA because of all the holiday decorations on the buildings.
If you watch the parade near the area where the Christmas tree is located on Main Street, you get a neat perspective of seeing the parade as it stretches down the street and having Sleeping Beauty Castle in the distance.
The Believe…In Holiday Magic Fireworks Spectacular is a “can’t miss” part of Disneyland’s holiday offerings. It will be crowded, but you’ll want to watch the show from Main Street USA. I recommend standing about halfway down Main Street (near the Silhouette Studio) and try to stand in the middle of the street so you have a clear view of Sleeping Beauty Castle.
The show is amazing and kicks off with a huge burst of fireworks above the castle. It has a reverse finale effect where the big bang is at the beginning, and it ends with a quieter finale featuring snowfall on Main Street. Have your camera ready at the end of the show. The snow effect lasts about a minute and makes for a wonderful photo opportunity.
You might also want to try watching the fireworks while standing in front of “it’s a small world” for a different perspective. Most of the fireworks launch from behind Toontown, so you will feel like you are right up front for the show. The snow effect also takes place along the small world mall area, which might be less crowded than Main Street USA for picture taking.
