When it comes to using the grill, I won’t let a little rain get me down. I’ve stood out in the backyard during rain, wind, and snow just to grill a steak or a burger. My neighbors probably think I am crazy, but I don’t think of grilling as a seasonal activity.
The one thing worse than the weather is having to clean the grill. When I just use a dry rub on the steaks, cleaning up isn’t so bad. When I use a marinade, it is an entirely different story. You have to watch for flare ups while cooking and then the sticky marinade usually coats your grill. It takes a lot of scrubbing to clean it all off.
The nice people at COOKINA barbecue sent me a reusable grilling sheet to try out. It is only $13 on their website and I found it virtually eliminates the need to clean your grill.
The COOKINA Barbecue is similar to a baking sheet that you would use with your indoor oven, but it is certified for use at 550° which makes it perfect for an outdoor grill. It is 100% non-stick and PFOA free.
I just unrolled the grilling sheet and placed it on the middle of my grill. It kept the marinade from dripping down and causing a flare up and, since the meat never touched the grill, I didn’t have to scrub the grill afterward. The interesting thing is that my burgers and steaks still had grill marks when I used the sheet. I wasn’t expecting that.
I also used the COOKINA reusable sheet when I grilled some onions. I even fried an egg on it, just to see if I could. Cleaning the sheet was relatively simple. I just soaked it in water and then scrubbed it afterward. I’ve used it about a dozen times and it is still holding up strong.
I saw the COOKINA Barbecue reusable grilling sheet at The Home Depot and they tell me it is also available at Ace Hardware. You can also buy it from their website. At $13 it is a bargain when you consider how much time you will save by not having to scrub your grill again.
