When I was a kid, I accidentally drove my RC car into the swimming pool. There was a moment of glee when the thing kept driving for a few seconds, but that was soon replaced with sadness as I stared down at my waterlogged toy. RC cars and water never got along well, until now.
Toy State created the Nikko VaporizR 2, which is an RC car that can drive across land, snow, and water. This amphibious vehicle can drive straight into the water, stays buoyant as it maneuvers around, and then can come right back onto land for more fun.
I brought the Nikko VaporizR along for our trip to Snoqualmie this weekend. The weather was great and we wanted to find some snow to play in. It didn’t take long before we arrived at Gold Creek Pond where we found plenty of water and snow.
The Nikko VaporizR has large tires which helped it crunch through the packed snow. I drove it onto some frozen water and the car just powered right out after it fell through the thin ice. The remote control is neat because you give power to the left and right wheels individually. This makes is very easy to spin in tight circles.
As a parent, I liked that the battery was rechargeable and came with the charger in the package. You can recharge it in about an hour. A screw and a latch on the bottom of the car keeps the battery compartment door securely closed and prevents water from leaking in.
On land, the car zips around and can get up to 9.3 MPH. This power comes in handy when you drive it through the water and snow. I found that the car was pretty rugged as well. I managed to crash it a few dozen times and it kept driving without any issues.
The Toy State Nikko VaporizR 2 would make a great Christmas present because it is relatively inexpensive and a lot of fun to play with. You can find theNikko VaporizR 2 and many other Toy State vehicles on Amazon or in retail stores like Walmart, Target, Kmart, and Toys R Us. It retails for $59.99, but Amazon currently has it listed for $47.60.
