I have been trying to limit the amount of screen time for my son, but I had to accept my shortcoming as a parent whenever his tablet is around. It is just plain convenient to let him watch a movie or play games on the tablet while in the car. And lately, we have had to run a lot of errands on weekends to prepare for our move. Without something to play with, my son would be really bored waiting while we do boring things.
We decided to buy a new mattress before leaving Oregon so that we could still benefit from the state’s zero sales tax. Instead of using a tablet as a babysitter, I gave my son one of Toy State’s Energy R/C cans, which is a portable R/C car. It worked out pretty great because the canister holds the remote control and the car, making it easy for him to carry around. And when we got to the mattress store, my son could just open up the can and unleash the R/C madness onto the store.
Even though it was a little 5″ car, the Hot Wheels Energy R/C had a lot of get up and go. It did fine jumping over makeshift obstacles in the store and survived a few death defying jumps off various mattresses. Fortunately, the salesman didn’t seem to mind my son driving his car around the store while we shopped.
When it was time to leave, my son just slid the remote control back into the base of the can, dropped in the car, and screwed on the lid. You can press the button on the remote to light up the can (and illuminate the car). It is a pretty neat design that makes the toy very portable and fun to play with.
If your child likes playing with R/C cars, Toy State has a few different designs of the Energy R/C vehicles that are worth checking out. You can find many of the Toy State vehicles on Amazon or in retail stores like Walmart, Target, Kmart, and Toys R Us. You can also find Toy State online on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
