With the abundance of hotels near Disneyland in Anaheim, it can be difficult to tell which one will give you the best stay for the dollar. Reading through online reviews is one of the best ways to see if there is a hidden reason behind that bargain hotel rate you found. We took a look at reviews on Expedia.com to show you the best places to stay in Anaheim based on actual customer feedback.
1. Ayres Hotel Anaheim (4.8 out of 5)
The Ayres Hotel in Anaheim received the best guest reviews on Expedia out of all the hotels in the Anaheim Resort area. The hotel is located about 2.5 miles away from Disneyland, near the Honda Center and Angel Stadium. The Anaheim Resort Transit shuttle (route 15) provides transportation to the Disneyland Resort (about a 10-15 min ride). The hotel offers free parking, free WiFi, and a free hot breakfast in the morning. The average rate is $134/night.
- “The rooms were clean and comfortable. Very quiet. Very close to Disneyland. The breakfast provided was good. Staff was friendly and helpful.”
- “One of my favorite hotel stays ever. Hotel was kept just like it appears in the picture. The rooms were wonderful and my husband simply loved the chef cooked free breakfeast. Would reccomend and seek this hotel in the future.”
- “This hotel was great for the money. The room was very spacious and was great when you are staying for a week. The breakfast was great each morning. Plenty of variety. Would be great for a family of four. The staff was very accommodating.”
2. Doubletree Suites by Hilton (4.7 out of 5)
How can you complain about a hotel that gives you a cookie at check-in? The Doubletree in Anaheim is a newer hotel and about a mile away from Disneyland. The Anaheim Resort Transit shuttle (route 3) provides convenient access to Disneyland. The hotel has three restaurants, with several more within walking distance. Parking is $16 per day, which can add up quickly. The rooftop pool is nice and is a fun place to watch the nightly Disneyland fireworks from a distance. The average rate for a standard room is $126 and suites are typically $170 per night.
- “We always stay at the Double Tree Suites when we’re in Anaheim for a Disneyland trip or a CPE for my husband or me. Over the years we’ve stayed at other local hotels (including all the Disneyland Hotels) and have consistently found this Double Tree to be the most outstanding in both facilities and value.”
- “Good hotel, well located if you want to visit Disneyland or other attractions for kids like Legoland. Room is large and has decent space for a family of 4. We recommend this hotel.”
- “Very clean hotel..nice staff…Great location! Only complaint was that the two queen beds were not of equal comfort..one pillow top felt very worn. Even with that I
will definitely stay again.”
3. Residence Inn by Marriott Anaheim Maingate (4.6 out of 5)
This hotel is a great option for families or those planning to stay in Anaheim for an extended period. The hotel is an extended stay style facility, which means that the suites all have full kitchens and basic cooking utensils, amenities like barbecue grills and complimentary parking for the length of your stay. Most people who stayed here felt that they received a great value for their dollar because the rooms were essentially a home away from home. The two-bedroom suites are especially nice for families.
The Residence Inn is near the Anaheim Gardenwalk, which has a nice collection of restaurants. The Anaheim Resort Transit also services this hotel, with shuttles arriving about every 20 minutes. Standard rooms are $129, studio suites average $160 per night, and one-bedroom suites are $190 per night on average.
- “Everything we could have hoped for considering the price. Staff super friendly and helpful. Good location for walking to the park (too far for younger kids though).”
- “Great family hotel close to Disney. The rooms are nice if slightly dated. Staff very friendly and helpful. Swimming pool was on the small side but did have a spa pool as well which was nice in the evenings. I really liked the ability to use the outdoor BBQ’s and the laundry.”
- “The hotel itself is clean, has a nice outdoor area and a grill where you can barbecue if you’d like. We liked the apartment feel and at half the price of the Disneyland hotels, it was a perfect option. The breakfast in the morning is a large variety (the food is not splendid, but hey, it’s free) and they had plenty of food right up until the 10am deadline.”
4. Hyatt Regency Orange County (4.5 out of 5)
The Hyatt Regency is a newly remodeled hotel that offers several types of family suites in addition to standard rooms. The hotel is outside of walking distance from Disneyland, but they offer a free shuttle that takes you right to the Disneyland main entrance. The dedicated shuttle service is something to consider when planning your stay, as most other hotels in the area rely on the Anaheim Transit to shuttle guests (which means an additional cost for you).
Another benefit of this hotel is the abundance of restaurants in the area. You have several great restaurant chains just steps away, which is a wonderful option for those who are tired of eating mickey mouse food all day. Rates are $129 for a standard room and $180 for a king suite. Hyatt is currently running a special for 50% off suite upgrades, so be sure to check that out if you’re booking a stay.
- “The hotel made our mini vacation so relaxing. Only a few blocks from Disneyland and the shuttle service was convenient. OC Brewery had great food!! The only thing that I didn’t like was that the jacuzzi did not have jets or they just didn’t work. We are planning to stay there again.”
- “We loved the hotel. It had great amenities, and the restaurant was fantastic. We really liked the pool, and the staff was generally helpful. However, the maid service didn’t clean the room as well as we liked, and it seemed that the turn-down service was a little unsatisfactory. However, I would totally recommend the hotel to a friend. I liked it a lot.”
- “Overall, this hotel was a great place to stay. The only complaint I have is that you have to pay $15 per day per car for parking. I feel that should be included in the price. The property is close to all local attractions including Disneyland and Angels stadium. Very clean hotel and everything you would expect from a Hyatt property.”
5. Comfort Inn and Suites Anaheim (4.5 out of 5)
This one caught us by surprise, as we weren’t expecting to see such a high rating for a value hotel. But the Comfort Inn and Suites has a lot of positives that can make any bargain traveler happy. The hotel offers free parking, free WiFi and a free breakfast buffet. The Anaheim Transit Shuttle services this hotel, making it a great budget friendly option for your next visit. Rooms average $79 per night.
- “Great customer service, nice clean rooms. We were there for a week and had clean sheets everyday. would definitely go back. The only thing wrong was and it is not the fault of the hotel. Some of the late night families coming back late could have kept the kids a little quieter in the hallway while going back to their room. Obviously kept the young ones out and they were loud in the hallway. Other than that our stay was great.”
- “Just made it a quick overnight to use a 2-day Disney pass. Great for the price and easy access to everything with the Anaheim Resort Transit (though the wait took a bit longer than the 20 minutes between shuttles as we were told.) Very comfortable, room was nice and the kids loved the pool. The staff were helpful and we enjoyed the stay!”
- “We stayed here for a week during spring break to go to Disney and Knotts. The hotel was close to everything! The room was clean, the staff was friendly and the parking was free! Excellent deal for the $$$. Save your money for the parks! Don’t pay to stay at those high price hotels with no refrigerator, microwave or coffee pot.”
While reading customer reviews isn’t a 100% reliable way to select a perfect hotel, it is a great way to narrow down your search. And in the case of our top five, it is a nice way to see which hotels offer the best experience regardless of price.
