The Disneyland Halloween Carnival is a new, seasonal addition that will be located at Big Thunder Ranch in Frontierland.
Disney has been using this area as a low-key meet and greet area for some of the characters and for performances of Billy Hill and the Hillbillies. Adding an autumn overlay to this area is a perfect fit and it is a great place for some family-friendly Halloween fun.
The Disney characters will still be present for photos. They will just be dressed in their Halloween costumes (yes, it is strange that the person in a costume has to wear a costume). Some of the Disney villains will be available as well. These characters are rarely in the park, so this is a great time to grab some photos.
The area is geared for younger children who might get a fright out of the other Halloween items, like the Haunted Mansion Holiday. Because of this, you’ll find activities like a make your own mask craft station and a Mask Parade led by Mickey Mouse. A variety of simple carnival games will be available for the children to play.
Disney will also have some professional pumpkin carvers, holiday merchandise and treats. A Magic Cauldron Sideshow will perform periodically.
The Disneyland Halloween Carnival opens September 14 and will be offered most days through October 31.
