The popularity of Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland was on the rise this year, with most dates selling out quickly for this special ticketed event. The search for tickets was enough to create a secondary market with ticket prices reaching $200 per ticket online.
In one eBay auction, a set of four tickets was selling for $460 (at-face value, the tickets are worth $276). On StubHub, four tickets were listed at $800.
For many families, Mickey’s Halloween Party is one of the only child-friendly events in an area filled with terrifying Halloween events. Knott’s Berry Farm’s annual Halloween Haunt is just a few miles away from Disneyland, but the content is far too gruesome for a younger audience. Many haunted houses in the area focus on terror and gore instead of the spooky, yet fun experiences that can be found at Disneyland.
To keep up with demand this year, Disney added an additional night, for a total of 11 nights for Mickey’s Halloween Party. Disneyland also increased the face-value prices by $5 compared to last year. When the event debuted in 2005, prices were only $18 per ticket.
