A visit to Knott’s Berry Farm wouldn’t be complete without a ride on the Timber Mountain Log Ride. But the attraction, which opened in 1969 has seen better days.
The mechanical figures and taxidermied animals seem lackluster by today’s standards, which is why it is great to hear Knott’s Berry Farm plans to give this classic attraction a multi-million dollar overhaul.
To put things in context, the Timber Mountain Log Ride opened around the same time Neil Armstrong was taking his historic first steps on the moon. Theme park rides have come a long way since then.
According to Knott’s Berry Farm, the Timber Mountain Log Ride remains the most popular ride in the park, surpassing all of Knott’s other attractions in ridership.
The refurbishment is expected to take five months, during which time all of the ride figures and sets will be upgraded. Knott’s plans to add new scenes and characters to the ride, while still maintaining the original log camp theme.
In addition to the log ride overhaul, Knott’s Berry Farm has three new family attractions planned for the summer of 2013. It is nice to see this much investment going into the theme park.
