When you have a family and a career, the topic of work/life balance comes up frequently. Everyone wants it all, but it truly is difficult to balance your time between career ambitions and quality time at home.
Things get even more complicated when you add extra-curricular activities to the mix like pursuing a degree or trying to squeeze in time for a workout. This past week, I tried to accomplish the trifecta by bringing my family along for a work conference and planned to complete some homework during the flight. I guess that accomplishing two out of three on the list isn’t too bad.
I brought a Toshiba Satellite Radius along for the trip, which is a 2-in-1 device powered by an Intel processor. When you are traveling, a 2-in-1 device is extra convenient because the laptop’s screen flips backwards to make it into a tablet. This saves you from bringing two devices onto the plane and makes it easier to watch a movie during the flight.
Instead of doing homework, I spent the five hour flight catching up on the show Homeland. At one point, I jumped and nearly dropped the Toshiba Radius when there was a startling moment in the show. It was easy to get lost in the action with my headphones in and the 14″ screen in front of me.
When I received the laptop from Intel, it had Windows 8.1 installed, but I upgraded it to Windows 10 pretty easily. It gave me a little prompt to say that I could upgrade for free, which was nice.
Everything still looked familiar and was easy to understand after the upgrade, plus there were a few new perks. I found that Windows 10 made it easy to switch between tablet and laptop mode on the Toshiba Radius. The Cortana virtual assistant was added, so I could just talk to my computer and ask for the current weather or to search for things on the web. I’m still playing with it, but overall it seems like the Windows 10 upgrade brought with it a ton of new features.
Sometimes you need a keyboard and track pad to get things done and there are other times when you just want a tablet to surf the web and read the news. With an Intel 2-in-1 computer, you can get the best of both worlds all in one device.
