For the first time, a Star Wars character appeared on a commercial aircraft. Boeing and Japanese airline All Nippon Airways unveiled a new 787 Dreamliner with a paint job inspired by the beloved character R2-D2.
This is the first of three planes that ANA plans to paint with Star Wars characters. The next two planes will feature BB-8, the new droid from Star Wars: The Force Awakens and another version of R2-D2.
This R2-D2 jet plane is scheduled to begin service in October on ANA’s international routes. The second and third planes will go into service in November and March 2016. You can see if your next flight will be on one of the themed planes by checking the plane’s schedules on ANA’s website.
