How many hours in a day do you spend looking at a computer screen? Between my time spent in the office and the time spent working at home, the hours can add up quickly. On the days that I work from home, I will use the time saved from commuting to get even more work done. That’s a lot of time staring at a computer screen, which can lead to eye strain and headaches if I don’t take frequent breaks.
The BenQ EW3270U 4K HDR Monitor is designed to reduce eye strain through the use of low blue light and flicker-free technology. And after a few weeks of use, I have to say that it really works. I immediately noticed the difference between using the BenQ monitor at home and when I used the monitor at work. In addition to the reduced eye discomfort, I appreciated the high quality display and how it made everything look crisp.
BenQ was kind enough to loan me the EW3270U 4K HDR Monitor for a few weeks for this review. The monitor was easy to set up and I had it connected to my desktop within a few minutes. I used the included cables to connect to the HDMI 2.0 port. The monitor also has ports for DP1.4 or USB-C connections. The BenQ monitor adjusts its brightness and color temperature based on on-screen content and ambient light conditions, so there wasn’t much that I needed to change out of the box. The monitor just adjusted the brightness and settings on its own to adapt to the room.
I liked the size of the 32″ monitor because it gave enough room to have two large windows side by side. When I write, I often have a reference document open alongside another window where I am typing. At work, I have two monitors which makes it easier to have multiple documents open. With the BenQ monitor, I had enough screen real estate to have multiple documents open on a single screen and the high resolution made it easy to read.
The 4K HDR and support for more than one billion colors came through when I watched movies and played games. I never ran into any issues with the refresh rate event while playing games like Forza where there is a lot of movement on the screen.
BenQ’s EW3270U 4K HDR Monitor is only offered in black, which I hope they will expand on in the future. Most computer manufacturers are making laptops in a variety of colors and most of my office accessories use some form of a metal finish. It would be nice to see a BenQ monitor in a modern silver finish, but the classic black color does blend into everything else, so I can’t complain too much.
Amazon has the BenQ EW3270U for $593.28 with free shipping to Prime members. It is an affordable price for a screen of this size and quality, and the eye care technology makes this a great choice for anyone who stares at a screen for hours on end.
