One of the biggest icons in Cars Land – the leaning tower of tires in front of Luigi’s Casa della Tires – was recently installed. It was a big production as Disney literally had to park a crane in the middle of the job site to lift the tires into place!
Luigi’s Flying Tires is one of three new attractions that will be part of the Cars Land addition. The ride’s vehicles will look like oversized Fettuccini-brand tires and accommodate up to two adults and one child, or one adult and two children.
When the ride starts, Luigi will give a countdown “Uno for the money, due for the show, tre to get ready and quattro to go!” and then drop the flag for the “Festival of the Flying Tires.”
It will take 6,714 air vents to keep the tires floating ever so slightly above the ground – approximately two inches.
Disney made the below video, featuring Imagineer Cathy Ritenour, which gives a little more explanation about the tower of tires that is part of the attraction’s entrance.
