I had an opportunity to speak with Alison Crawford, the show’s Creative Director, during a behind the scenes tour and she shared some great insight on the show’s whimsical storyline. The show’s name, Corteo, translates to “procession” in Italian. The storyline follows the journey of a clown named Mauro, who imagines his own funeral as a carnival celebration filled with wonder and joy. As he watches his own funeral procession, he’s surrounded by a cast of characters from his past, including childhood friends, family members, and fellow performers. The show explores themes of life, death, and the power of human connection, all while celebrating the joy of being alive.
The show’s creative direction is inspired by the world of the circus and carnival, with whimsical costumes, vibrant sets, and stunning visual effects that transport the audience to a fantastical world of wonder and enchantment. If you have younger children in your family, they will likely smile when the oversized beds are wheeled out for a moment of extreme jumping on the bed. The use of beds as giant trampolines is just one example of the creative direction at work, as it adds an element of playfulness and humor to the overall experience.

The aerial act is a standout performance, with acrobats soaring through the air with ease and grace.
