The Blue Bayou is one of the most popular restaurants inside Disneyland and has become a must-visit destination for many guests. The restaurant has a very unique charm because of its theming and because it is part of the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction.
One of the things that I love most about the Blue Bayou is the “perpetual twilight” theming. When you step inside the restaurant, you enter a nighttime setting complete with fireflies and the sounds of crickets and frogs emanating from the bayou. At some times, the Blue Bayou will even have a live jazz band playing inside the restaurant.
Price-wise, the Blue Bayou is one of the more expensive restaurants inside Disneyland. That said, it isn’t as expensive as some of the fine dining restaurants that you’ll find at the hotels. On average, you’ll pay $30-$40 per person. Lunch is less expensive than dinner (and easier to get a seat without a reservation).
The Monte Cristo sandwich is easily the most famous item on the menu, though many first time diners wonder what exactly it is. The deep fried sandwich is stuffed with ham, turkey and swiss cheese. It is incredibly decedent, fattening and wonderful. Calories don’t count while on vacation, right?
Because of the popularity of this restaurant, I highly recommend that you make reservations by calling (714) 781-DINE or (714) 781-3463. I also recommend buying some of their chocolate coins on the way out. It will be a little treat that will remind you of your Blue Bayou experience for days afterward.
