We’re planning a vacation to Disneyland in September with my little boy who will be 3. Neither my husband nor I have been to Disneyland before! What hotels have the easiest access to Disneyland Park – worried about walking time for our 3 year old. – Tina
One of the best parts about visiting Disneyland compared with Walt Disney World is that there is an abundance of hotels within walking distance of the resort. When looking at hotels, you can either go with one of Disney’s three “on property” hotels or stay at one of the Good Neighbor hotels that are just steps away.
Of the Disney hotels, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel is located the closest to the theme parks. It has a special entrance to Disney California Adventure that is only available for hotel guests. The Disneyland Hotel offers Monorail service that drops you off inside Disneyland park. It is about a 15 min walk through Downtown Disney to reach the Disney’s California Adventure entrance. Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel is a short walk away from the theme parks, but is the least convenient of the three Disney hotels.
The Good Neighbor hotels are often more affordable than the Disney hotels and there are numerous options nearby. Many of the hotels are literally across the street from Disneyland. Some of the hotels have shuttles which drop you off at the entrance to the two theme parks. But most of the hotels now rely on the Anaheim Resort Transit shuttle to provide door to door transportation.
In our experience, the hotels within walking distance are the best option because you won’t be left waiting for a shuttle when you want to get back to rest. The ART shuttles are convenient, but often are packed (just like a regular city bus). If your children are in strollers, it can also be a hassle to unload the kids and fold the stroller before boarding.
