Just in time for Halloween, Disney has a great way for your children to get a pirate makeover at Disneyland. The new Pirates League is open in New Orleans Square.
The Pirates League offers three different packages for guests to choose from: Jake and the Never Land Pirates, First Mate, and Empress (created especially for all the pirate princesses). Packages range from $29.95 – $34.95.
- Jake from Jake and the Neverland Pirates: Includes pirate bag, sword and sheath, pirate coin necklace, Jake bandana with faux black hair and Jake’s trademark dark eyebrows. ($29.95)
- First Mate: Includes a choice of three different pirate facial effects (Black Beard, Captain Hook and Black Eyed Jack), reversible bandana, earring and eye patch, sword and sheath, temporary tattoo, pirate coin necklace, personalized pirate oath with a NEW pirate name and pirate bag. ($34.95)
- Empress: Includes face makeup, earring and eye patch, reversible bandana, sword and sheath, temporary tattoo, pirate coin necklace, personalized pirate oath and NEW pirate name, face gem, nail polish and lip gloss. ($34.95)
The Babes in Disneyland blog has some great tips for making the most of this experience:
- Pirates League is great for kids ages 3 and up.
- Like Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, costumes are available for purchase, but if you have one from home, children can wear them.
- While the pirates stylists won’t get any makeup on your child, you child likely will get some on his clothing if he transfers it to his hands and he wipes them on his shirt or shorts.
- In my opinion, because Pirates League is a splurge, I think kids should have their makeovers done as early as possible so that they can enjoy the rewards of being a pirate for as much time as possible.
I also liked her tip about bringing makeup remover in case you are staying at Disneyland multiple days. It likely will be the easiest way to remove the makeup before bed.
It sounds like the makeover experience is a lot of fun for the children. You get a pirate name, learn some swashbuckling tricks, and you get a “pirate oath” to take home with you when it is complete.
The Pirates Lair experience will be offered through October 31. If this proves to be a popular item, we anticipate Disney will make it a permanent thing by moving it into one of the open New Orleans stores. But for now, Disney is saying this is a temporary thing just for Halloween.
We highly recommend making a reservation if you plan to do this, as it will likely fill up around Halloween. Reservations can be made by calling (714) 781-STYLE.
