Here’s a first look at the updated ride vehicles for Test Track, which will reopen this fall. Disney added a sample “SimCar” to the Cool Wash Station that is located near the Test Track main entrance.
Update: Disney announced a December 6, 2012 reopening date for the attraction.
The attraction is getting a new overlay that will give the appearance that riders are taking a test drive through a computer simulation (instead of a physical ride test facility). With this new focus on electronics and digital design, I’m sure Disney couldn’t help but produce a ride vehicle that looks like it came out of Tron.
For some comparison, here’s a look at the original ride vehicle. You’ll see that not much has changed, aside from the paint scheme.
In August, Disney Imagineer Melissa Jeselnick held an online Q&A where she shared some additional details about what is in store.
We still do not know much about the changes inside the attraction. But with an opening planned this fall, we won’t have to wait much longer to take the updated ride for a test drive.
