If you are a first time visitor to Disneyland, the “Discover the Magic Guided Tour” is a fun way to see the Magic Kingdom. Disney describes the tour as an”interactive scavenger hunt through Disneyland,” which is an apt way to descrive the experience. With a Disney Tour Guide leading the way, your family will hunt for clues, solve puzzles and experience a few attractions along the way.
This tour is especially fun for families with children, as the tour is designed to be an interactive play type of experience. If you are in a group of adults without children, I recommend skipping this tour (as it may be too silly for adults) and try the wonderful “A Walk In Walt’s Footsteps” tour instead.
While the other tours can quickly become tedious and boring, “Discover the Magic” provides a whirlwind adventure that will keep your children entertained. You typically will visit six different attractions as part of the scavenger hunt. The tour is themed as a mission to defeat the Disney villains and save the day.
Along the way, you will encounter a few Disney characters and princesses who show up to aid in your mission. And since this is the Happiest Place on Earth, the tour culminates in great congratulations for helping Mickey Mouse.
Here are some things to know:
- The tour is approximately 2 ½ hours long.
- Theme park admission for Disneyland park is required to attend the tour.
- The tour leaves from Disneyland park Tour Gardens (left of City Hall) on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 10 a.m.
- All guests who participate receive a special, tour-exclusive lanyard and medallion.
- Taking a guided tour does not mean that you get to cut in line for the rides. Often times, the tour guide will grab FASTPASS tickets for your group ahead of time, but that isn’t guaranteed.
- A snack and beverage are included in the tour.
- The tour group is usually about 20 people in size, depending on how many register for the tour that day.
