One of my family’s favorite restaurants is Storytellers Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel. The restaurant has some of the best food at the Disneyland Resort and is moderately priced for what you get (avg. $15-$36 per person).
Storytellers Cafe is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the mornings, Chip ‘n Dale can be found at the restaurant along with some of their friends. The characters will usually lead the children on a parade around the restaurant, which is a fun event for the kids and a great photo opportunity for the parents. For breakfast, you have the option of ordering off the menu or going with the Farmer’s Market buffet that serves Mickey Mouse-shaped waffles, fresh fruit and made-to-order omelets.
On the lunch and dinner menus, the restaurant’s charred Nebraska corn chowder is a favorite. The lunch menu offers a variety of salads, soups and sandwiches. For dinner, you again have a buffet option or you can order from the menu which includes items like fresh pastas and juicy steaks.
You don’t have to be a guest of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel to enjoy this great restaurant. It is open to everyone, but reservations are recommended. You can get to Storytellers Cafe by walking through the Downtown Disney gate which leads into the Grand Californian Hotel. The restaurant is located near the hotel’s pool. You can also get to the restaurant from Disney California Adventure by walking through the turnstiles near Grizzly River Run (don’t forget to get your hand stamped on the way out).
Dining reservations are recommended for “Chip ‘n’ Dale Critter Breakfast” and can be arranged by calling Disney Dining at (714) 781-DINE or (714) 781-3463.
