Magic Morning (formerly “Early Entry”) at Disneyland is one of the best ways to see the park before the crowds pack in. Select areas of Disneyland are made available before the park opens to the general public, giving you a chance to see the sights before the lines get out of control.
Who Can Get In?
You do not need to stay at a Disneyland Resort hotel in order to take advantage of Magic Morning. Entry is based on the type of admission ticket you purchase (look for the “Magic Morning” feature). The Magic Morning is included with 3, 4, and 5-day park hoppers that are purchased from the Disneyland web site or with certain travel packages. You can usually find tickets with the Magic Morning includes when you shop at Costco, AAA, or buy tickets from a “Good Neighbor” hotel in the Anaheim Resort area.
If you are not staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel, the Magic Morning feature can only be used on one day. But if you are a guest at a Disneyland Resort hotel (Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian, or Paradise Pier) you can take advantage of Magic Morning any day that it is offered during your stay. You just have to show your room key and ticket at the gate.
What Rides are Open?
Magic Morning is generally offered every Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. It is only offered at Disneyland park. Magic Morning is not currently offered at Disney’s California Adventure. It allows you to enter Fantasyland and Tomorrowland one hour before park opening. The following attractions are usually available (subject to change without notice):
Alice in Wonderland
Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
Dumbo the Flying Elephant
Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage
King Arthur Carrousel
Mad Tea Party
Matterhorn Bobsleds
Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride
Monorail
Peter Pan’s Flight
Pinocchio’s Daring Journey
Snow White’s Scary Adventures
Space Mountain
During the Magic Morning hour, some shops and restaurants on Main Street will also be open. But as the park nears its opening time, the end of Main Street will be blocked off with a rope so that the general admission guests can queue up for the park opening.
What is Mickey’s Toontown Morning Madness?
One of the biggest points of confusion is with the difference between Magic Mornings and “Mickey’s Toontown Morning Madness – Interactive Guest & Character Experience.” Morning Madness is another “extra” type of feature that is offered. Unlike Magic Morning, this feature is only available to guests with certain WDTC (Walt Disney Travel Company) travel packages.
You can use this feature on one day of your visit to enter Toontown an hour early. (Toontown typically opens at least one hour after the rest of Disneyland opens.) During this hour there is a Toontown Citizenship ceremony led by Mayor Mickey Mouse, and there are lots of characters around to greet guests, sign autographs, or show off their respective homes. This feature is available Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
It is possible to attend “Magic Morning” and “Mickey’s Toontown Morning Madness” on the same day, since Magic Morning begins an hour before the park opens and Mickey’s Toontown Morning Madness begins when the park opens.
