Most dads are easy-going and say that they don’t need anything for Father’s Day (they already have your love). But I think that every dad appreciates a thoughtful gift from their kids. Its a tangible way to show that you care.
Picking the right gift isn’t always easy — especially if your dad has a particular personality. That’s why our list is full of Father’s Day gifts for every type of dad (or father figure) out there.
Craft Jerky Subscription
Whether you are watching your favorite sports team, heading on a road trip, or just going for a hike, beef jerky is the snack that everyone loves. Craft Jerky Company is a new company that offers subscriptions to monthly craft jerky boxes so that dad can enjoy some of the best jerky out there.
I received a sample box and it was filled with several bags of jerky from small-batch artisan producers across the country. The nice thing about this gift option is that there are several sizes available to fit all budgets – two bags for $15, four for $25, six for $35 and eight for $45. The Bourbon Franklin beef jerky from Righteous Felon was my favorite from this box, but the Volcanic Jalapeno from Wicked Cutz was a very close second. You can save 20% on your subscription when you use the code DADLOGIC.
Traeger Pellet Grill
Most of us have turned into amateur chefs these past few months while cooped up at home. While some people have turned to making sourdough bread and baking, I found that a Traeger grill is one of the best things you can give your dad.
You can usually find a good deal on a Traeger grill at Costco, The Home Depot, or Ace Hardware. I recommend picking a grill that has Traeger’s WiFIRE technology, which lets you connect the grill to your smartphone. I love this feature because I can pick a recipe in the Traeger app, press a button, and it send the cooking instructions to the grill. The Traeger then heats up to the right temperature, sets the meat probe thermometer to the right setting, and will send an alert to your phone when your meal is ready.
The Traeger grills are easy to use and I’ve always had great results, which is why I’m recommending it for this gift guide. There are a few different sizes of grills, which gives some options for various price points. The main differences are with the size of the grill, if it includes a shelf, and if it includes the WiFire technology. You can always buy the shelf later. I recommend splurging on the WiFIRE feature.
Ooni Fyra Portable Wood-fired Outdoor Pizza Oven
Keeping on the cooking theme, let’s talk about pizza. Few things are better than handmade pizza fresh from the oven. My neighbor got me hooked on the pizzas he would make in his Ooni pizza oven and I eventually had to buy one for myself.
The Ooni Fyra Wood-fired Outdoor Pizza Oven is a great gift for dad because it makes it easy to have a family dinner night. Dad can heat up the Ooni pizza oven and make the dough. Everyone else can make their own pizzas and choose their own toppings. The pizzas cook in just a few minutes and they turn out amazing because of the oven’s high heat.
The Ooni pizza ovens come in two varieties – wood and gas powered. The wood ovens run on the wood pellets you’d use in a Traeger grill. The gas oven uses propane. Its simple to switch between fuel sources if you feel like buying the wood version and the gas insert, but its really up to whatever you think your dad would use the most.
If you buy this for your dad, I recommend also getting two of the pizza peels. This way, you can use one to cook and then use the second pizza peel to get the next pizza ready. Its a little more efficient this way, especially if you have a big family.
Headphones
Of all the gifts I have received, I use my headphones the most often. When I’m working in the office or just trying to focus while working at home, I like to wear Apple’s Air Pods Pro. These headphones are tiny, have a great range, and they have great battery life. These headphones have noise cancellation, which is a godsend when you’re trying to tune out background noise. The Air Pods Pro are $250, but a less expensive option is Apple Air Pods for $159. The Air Pods are a little larger and don’t have the noise cancellation, but they have excellent sound and battery life.
If your dad travels a lot, or just wants a little quiet so he can think in solitude, I recommend the Bose noise cancelling headphones ($349). I use these on long flights because they have an extremely long battery life and they cancel out the engine noise from the plane. They are also very comfortable to wear for long periods of time because of the ear pads.
The LEGO Architect by Tom Alphin
Sometimes the unexpected gifts make the biggest impression. The LEGO Architect is a book that talks about the history of architecture by showing how to create each style of building out of LEGO. The book is designed to replicate the look of LEGO instructions and it is really interesting to read through.
A pricey addition to this is the LEGO Architecture Studio which is a monochromatic brick set you can use to construct the 12 models in the book. LEGO is a great gift for dads because the complex designs are fun to build and then to display in a man cave or a home office.
Bluebeard Coffee
I started this list with a recommendation for a subscription service, so I’m bringing it full circle with another subscription recommendation. This one comes from Bluebeard coffee roasters, based in Tacoma, WA.
For the last few months, I’ve subscribed to the Roaster’s Choice box which is a rotating selection of coffee each month. You can also pick the Narrow’s Espresso Blend or El Capitan Latin Blend to be delivered each month, which are Bluebeard’s year-round standards.
I’ve been going through a lot more coffee now that I’m working from home full time. It has been nice to receive the monthly coffee boxes from Bluebeard, and the variety that comes from the Roaster’s Choice box, which is why I’m recommending this one for a Father’s Day gift. Its the gift that keeps on giving.
