Every evening, my wife and I will share highlights from our day and talk about our son’s day at school. But throughout the day, we always exchange several messages to share traffic updates (my wife leaves before I do in the morning), reminders to pick up the dry cleaning, or photos from my son’s swim class. Our smartphones are a big part of how we stay connected throughout the day, which is why I really liked what the HTC First has to offer. Thanks go to AT&T for letting me take one of these phones for a test drive.
The phone is unique because it is built around the Facebook experience. Instead of having to open an app to see Facebook updates, your home screen is a slideshow of your friends’ photo updates. I know many people who spend hours just scrolling through photos on Instagram. The same is true with the HTC First, as I found that it was easy to flip through photos to get quick updates on what everyone was doing.
Like any other Android smartphone, you can load whatever apps you’d like from Google Play. Our phones are used to watch movies more than they are used to make actual phone calls, so the Netflix app was one of the first that I installed. The phone has a nice display and speakers, which made it perfect for my son to watch Thomas the Train while we were waiting at the doctor’s office.
The phone is currently offered for only $0.99 with a new 2-year-contract through AT&T, which is a bargain for all the phone offers. If you’re in the market for a smartphone that helps keep you connected with friends and family, the HTC First is worth checking out.

We love Netflix too. My daughter watches lots of Curious George.

Hmmm….Facebook is always the first app we install. Angry Birds would have to be second on the list.
