A Google search for “iPhone dropped in toilet” returns about 1,580,000 results. Our own family has lost an iPhone to the watery depths of the porcelain throne. Why you would want to let your toddler play with an iPad while on the toilet is beyond me, but an enterprising inventor thinks it is a great idea. Meet the iPotty.
The iPotty is designed to be used while potty training. The iPad is supposed to keep your child entertained while waiting for the magic to happen. I suppose this is a good time to remind everyone about the importance of washing your hands.
The makers of the toilet don’t want parents to worry about any damage to their tablet — the training potty comes with a clear cover to put over the iPad, as well as a splash guard for boys. The potty can also be disassembled for easy cleaning, CNET reported.
Potty training can be difficult and there is a certain point where a parent will give anything a try. The idea behind the iPotty is sound. You want to keep your child occupied so that they stay on the toilet long enough to complete the job. And after watching my son unravel countless rolls of toilet paper, maybe an iPad would be a better distraction.
While the iPotty makes me laugh, I also have to admit that I liked the TVs that ESPN Zone has mounted above every toilet. I even considered copying the idea at home (for a brief moment, don’t hate me). So if it is acceptable for adults to watch a show while tuning to channel 1 or channel 2, perhaps it isn’t too far fetched to think the iPotty might have a place in the modern home.
You can buy the iPotty from Amazon for $39.99. Of course, the iPad is sold separately.

I also think they should develop an adult model of this contraption, so I can stop worrying about dropping mine into the toilet…

I’d buy one.
