I have a problem. I like to hoard receipts, business cards, and other small notes in my wallet. Its one of those problems that seems small, but it can get out of hand really fast. And as my wallet grows, it quickly becomes very uncomfortable to keep in my back pocket.
I knew that I had a problem when I had to keep the wallet in my laptop bag. It just wasn’t comfortable to sit with that monster wallet in my back pocket. It was time for an intervention, or a new wallet.
KeySmart sells three wallet designs as part of its Urban Gear collection. I was ready to slim things down dramatically, and so I went for the smallest wallet they made – the Slim Wallet. At only 0.40 in thick, the wallet lives up to its name. But the real challenge was slimming down the collection of cards and papers that had fattened up my bifold wallet.
The Slim Wallet holds up to 6 cards (3 on each side) and it can store cash in its center pocket. It also has space for a Slim Tile which lets you track the location of your wallet from your phone using the free Tile app. I didn’t try this feature out myself, but I’m told that you can even make it ring so that you can find your wallet faster.
As I cleared out my old wallet, I realized that I carried more cards than I really needed. And slowly, I pared down the stack to the essentials which all fit inside the Slim Wallet. It was weird to see that my wallet was thinner than my phone, but there it was in all of its slender glory.
The interesting thing was that, as I used the wallet over the next few weeks, I never missed all of that junk that I used to carry. Instead, I found that I was really happy with a smaller wallet. I could even carry the Slim Wallet in my front pocket, which I could never have done with my old wallet.
KeySmart makes their wallets from a fabric called Tectuff Leather which resists abrasions, scuffs, oil stains, and water. It has a texture that feels similar to leather, but they advertise it as lasting 10X longer than traditional leather. It feels really durable and I haven’t noticed any scuff marks in the time that I have been using it.
KeySmart’s Slim Wallet exceeded my expectations. It is super slim. It is well made. And most importantly, it has room for all my essentials even with its streamlined design.
