Sometimes a parent just has to sneak vegetables into their child’s diet. My parents used to find clever ways to hide veggies in our meals so my siblings wouldn’t create a fuss. In a similar way, most children give an eye roll at the mention of homework, but won’t think twice when you give them an educational game to play.
My son loves all things Mickey Mouse, which is why I knew he would love playing Mickey’s Magical Math World. The app lets children join Mickey and his pals on a space adventure that explores math concepts.
The app has a few different components which help children learn to recognize and identify shapes (Mickey’s Rocket Build), play with numbers and patterns (Minnie’s Robot Playground) and ponder early number concepts (Donald’s Alien Number Line).
The Disney app is geared for families with children ages 3-8. Unlike many learning aids that rely on rote memorization and repetitive gameplay, Disney reinforces learning concepts in immersive and playful ways.
Another great app is the Disney Imagicademy: Parents, which is a resource to find ways to help inspire your child and encourage learning. The app gives parents daily articles and Imagicademy-inspired activities designed to help spark creativity and encourage imaginative learning. Disney Imagicademy: Parents also serves as a portal into the Mickey’s Magical Math World app so you can see your child’s latest creations, provide encouragement with a virtual “high five” and share their accomplishments with family and friends.
In addition to the digital apps, parents can find even more info in the free community parent portal, which includes info about free Disney Store events, books and magazines, and hands-on learning tools that extend the digital experience to the physical world.
Your children might not know what is best for them, but there are simple ways that parents can introduce math and learning concepts in a fun way. Download the Disney iPad apps Mickey’s Mickey’s Magical Math World and Disney Imagicademy: Parents to help your children learn as they have fun with Mickey and his pals.
Disney Imagicademy apps are available exclusively for iPad and can currently be found on Apple’s App Store in the Kids, Education and Entertainment categories.
