Beginning in mid-May, Disney park guests will have a chance to meet Merida, the headstrong teenager, and lead character, from the upcoming Disney•Pixar movie “Brave.” Disney is creating an all new meet-and-greet experience for Merida at Disneyland at at the Magic Kingdom in Florida.
At Magic Kingdom Park, Merida will appear in Fairytale Garden in a setting inspired by her Scottish Highlands home, where young guests will be invited to engage in archery lessons and other activities until it’s their turn to meet her. Joining Merida are three mischievous bear cubs from the movie.
To prepare for Merida’s arrival, Rapunzel will be moved from Fairytale Garden April 15, to a new spot at the outskirts of Adventureland where she will continue to greet her loyal fans and subjects.
At Disneyland park in California, Merida and the bears will find a home away from home near “it’s a small world” in Fantasyland. Similar to the WDW experience, guests at Disneyland will also be able to participate in activities inspired by Merida’s story. Merida’s meet-and greet location will be on the right hand side of the parade route, across from “it’s a small world.”
It is great to see a movie from Disney•Pixar with such a strong, female lead character. “Brave” opens in theaters June 22.
