Daddy, Why Does Merida Sound Funny?

Merida from BraveDisney’s newest princess, Merida from ‘Brave,’ is already meeting with guests at Walt Disney World. And while many are thrilled to see the new character, some are complaining that her accent is Irish, not Scottish.

While it is unlikely that any of Merida’s young vistors will notice the discrepancy, YouTube commenters have had a field day commenting on videos of the character.

We’re sure that things will improve with time. Let’s face it, every actress needs time to perfect their role.We’re just glad to see a movie from Disney•Pixar with such a strong, female lead character. No matter what accent she has, our family will be there to see “Brave” when it opens in theaters June 22.

    in the second video she’s actually switching between Irish and Scottish. Hopefully this will improve.
