There have been rumors that a new, upscale restaurant and lounge will be part of the Carthay Circle Theatre in Disney’s California Adventure. Disney has still not announced the location’s name, but the OC Register’s Around Disney blog has learned the menu by will be created by Executive Chef Andrew Sutton of Napa Rose fame.
When the park originally opened, Disney California Adventure had several upscale dining options including a Wolfgang Puck restaurant and the Mondavi family’s restaurant in the Golden Vine Winery. Due to the low attendance levels when the park originally opened in 2001, these upscale restaurants sadly had to close and instead were replaced with more moderate dining options.
In the latest Disney Insider newsletter, Disney Imagineer Coulter Winn confirms that the Carthay Circle Theatre will “have a high-end restaurant.” However, Coulter doesn’t mention the rumored lounge. This leads us to believe that, while the restaurant may be open to the public, the lounge could be private (much like Club 33 in Disneyland).
On a side note, we found this comment about the parade route interesting:
“…the parade is now going to go through the hub. It’s going to start at the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, go down Hollywood Boulevard, and go through the hub on to the Boardwalk.”
This is the first we have heard about the parade route being extended through the Hollywood section of Disney’s California Adventure. The DCA parade route is already one of the longest of the Disney parks, which means that your average guest can find a good seat fairly easily. This extended route will just mean that there will be more available space to watch the parades.
Back to the restaurant – we love that Andrew Sutton is creating the menu and are excited to give it a try. Most of all, we are thrilled that Disney is adding upscale dining options back into to Disney California Adventure. These types of restaurants are great places for a special night out.
