New Year’s Eve is one of the peak times to visit the Disneyland Resort, but it is also a great place to ring in the new year.
For years, the tradition has been to celebrate in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at midnight. The Disneyland Resort ambassadors usually make an appearance to host the countdown, which is followed by an extended firework display.
It usually gets very crowded in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle during the New Year’s celebrations. If you’re looking for a little more elbow room, but still plenty of fun, consider visiting Disney California Adventure instead.
The New Year’s party at Disney California Adventure park goes until 1 a.m. on New Year’s Eve. They have a few special entertainment offerings planned just for the occasion:
- Countdown to the New Year just before a special midnight showing of “World of Color”
- Midnight countdown during ElecTRONica, featuring DJ Michael Paul
- Live band, champagne bars and midnight countdown in Paradise Garden area
No matter which park you choose, be prepared for crowds and a lengthy delay when it comes time to leave (especially if you are leaving right after midnight). There isn’t any additional cost to enjoy New Year’s eve at the Disneyland Resort, which makes it an ideal, family friendly place to celebrate.
