One of my favorite things about Seattle is that the city has a few professional sports teams. When we lived in Portland, I missed being able to see a football or baseball game. I am really looking forward to taking my son to his first baseball game this summer.
As a precursor to the season, the Seattle Mariners held their 17th annual FanFest. It was a neat chance for families to get autographs, ride a zip line across Safeco field, play catch in the outfield, and to run around the bases.
My son loved the zip line, but the chance to walk onto the field was my highlight. It was such a neat opportunity! At home plate, they had a broadcast desk set up and children could be an MLB broadcaster for a few minutes. In the outfield, you could swing at a few pitches or just play catch. I’m hoping to try that with my son next year.
If I remember right, the FanFest admission was only $10 for adults and my son was free. For less than the cost of a movie, we got a few unique experiences. It is hard to beat a deal like that.
Good luck to the Seattle Mariners this season!
