We have a sneak peek at the new Disney’s Art of Animation Lion King rooms at Walt Disney World. The area is still under construction and will officially open August 10. But we have a special preview to share with our readers today!
The exterior of the Lion King buildings has an abundance of rich detail from the movie. A larger than life Mufasa on Pride Rock greets visitors as you walk from the main lobby to the Lion King wing of the hotel.

The exterior also has a few other scenes from the movie represented in larger than life figurines. The “Hakuna Matata” scene with Pumbaa, Timon and Simba is sure to be a favorite for photos when the Lion King wing opens.

The villains from Lion King also make an appearance in the Elephant Graveyard Playground (there is no pool in this section of the resort). The elephant skull is 16 feet tall.

The Lion King rooms will include the family suites that we have seen in the Finding Nemo and Cars themed wings of Disney’s Art of Animation. Here’s a look at a few of the main areas of the Lion King rooms.
A savannah sunset adds some color to the shower in the master bathroom.
Jungle curtains and a giraffe couch add some wild elements to the family suite’s living room.
A giant palm frond and Zazu make up the headboard.
We’ll give a full tour of the Lion King family suites when the Lion King wing opens to the public. But as you can see from this preview, the Lion King wing of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will be every bit as wonderful as the rest of the hotel. The toughest part of booking your stay will be deciding which room to stay in!

If you can’t afford Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, this looks like the next best thing.
