When I lived in California, there were frequent problems with ducks or seagulls camping out on the monorail beam. Usually a horn honk or two would scare them off, but sometimes it could take quite a few attempts to clear the beam.
Thanks to the magic of YouTube, we now get to see the equivalent problem unfold at Walt Disney World.
According to reports, the resort loop at the Magic Kingdom Monorail was delayed by 45 minutes as the driver of Monorail Gold attempted to clear the beam of a poor little squirrel. For whatever reason, the squirrel wouldn’t run down a support beam.
As you’ll see in the video, the squirrel instead decided to keep running straight down the line. This cat and mouse game went on all the way from the Grand Floridian to the Magic Kingdom Monorail Station.
The squirrel finally jumped off the track into the Magic Kingdom station. Maybe he was on his way to visit Chip ‘N Dale?
I couldn’t help but cheer at the very end. While the long wait was likely frustrating for those on the monorail and for those waiting, we give a round of applause to the driver of Monorail Gold for being sensitive to the little creatures.

Funny video. But it is annoying that the person behind the camera has to all out that it is a woman driver. I guess sexism exists even at the happiest place on earth.
This video made my day. I also had to cheer at the end when it lept to safety. :)
