Whenever I have a long flight or when I take the train from Seattle to Portland, I buy a stack of magazines to pass the time. There is something relaxing about leafing through the glossy pages and catching up on news at a leisurely pace.
Because I read so much while I travel, I was happy to get an email from Texture with an invitation to try their app.
Texture gives you unlimited access to a ton of magazines for one low monthly price, which is why it has been such a great companion for my last few trips. I was able to download the magazines I normally read, like Adweek, Fast Company, Fortune and Forbes. I also found my favorite leisure magazines like Car and Driver, Dwell, and Esquire.
Here’s the really neat thing. The app curates the best articles from the magazines you mark as a favorite, so the best content is right there at the top when you launch the app. This helped me skip through the fluff and get to the best parts of the magazines. It also helped me discover a few really good articles I might have otherwise missed.
Of course, you can still leaf through entire magazines. Dwell is one of those few periodicals that I always read cover to cover. You can download the full issues for offline reading, which is great when you are on a plane or have spotty WiFi on the train.
You can sign up for Texture and try it for free for 30 days. Basic subscriptions are available for $9.99 a month and premium is $14.99. When I did the math on how much I was spending on magazines, Texture was a bargain by comparison.
