Many people have looked for a way to spend the night at Disneyland, but how about owning a home modeled after a Disneyland attraction? A replica of Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion is up for sale in Georgia and the 10,000+ square foot colonial manor can be yours for only $873,000.
The owner and designer of the home, Mark Hurt, a Disney contractor, partnered with the Disneyana reseller site Theme Park Connection to sell the property. Hurt built the 4-story, 7 Bedroom, 6 Bath home in 1996 and added elements to replicate the attraction at Disneyland.
Mark, who owns the company Constructioneer, is no stranger to Disney projects and tried to match his design as closely as possible to the real Disneyland Haunted Mansion. He found the actual foundry that Walt Disney used to make the iron details of the original Haunted Mansion and had them make the iron details for this house. He even included four faux chimneys to match the appearance of the original.
My one critique of the replica’s design is the absence of the cupola and ship weather vane. I’m not sure if they still do this, but the cast members used to sign their names in the cupola after completing training on the attraction. The sailing ship weather vane is a nod to the original storyline of the sea captain and his bride. It seems strange to see these details missing considering all the other work Hurt put into making the replica appear authentic.
In the video below you can see that the interior design does not follow the same architecture style as the exterior. The interior is modern and looks like any other contemporary home that was recently built. The one exception is an animated bathroom Hitchhiking Ghost scene. Can you imagine how much that would freak out your kids if it were your home?
