The goat from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is the centerpiece of Walt Disney World’s new campaign to promote the Florida resident 3 days for $119 discount tickets. “Share the discount link on Facebook and Twitter,” the goat bleats. Somehow, this social media karma will release the goat into the Magic Kingdom so that he can ride the attractions.
It seems to make sense that Walt Disney World would use Big Thunder Mountain in the ad campaign. The attraction was recently updated with an interactive queue, which will give even frequent visitors something new to see. But the talking goat video does seem strange, even for a company best known for a talking mouse.
Last year, Disney theme parks had discounts for both Southern California residents and Florida residents. The continued popularity of Cars Land at Disney California Adventure has made it unnecessary to offer a discount to boost attendance in the off season. The Florida theme parks are the only ones offering a discount to locals this year.
Below are the details of the 3-Day Ticket for $119 offer.
Florida Residents can make the most of the magic with a 3-day Discover Disney ticket, available for just $119, plus tax. Purchase January 5 through June 3, 2013 and enjoy admission to one theme park per day on any 3 days through June 7, 2013, excluding blockout dates.* The Discover Disney ticket is valid at any of the 4 Walt Disney World Resort theme parks and can be used on non-consecutive days!
With 3 days at the theme parks, you can find fun experiences for everyone in the family. Looking for a little extra magic? Add a 4th day for just $10 more, plus tax!
* Blockout dates are March 23 through April 5, 2013. Passes are non-transferable, are only valid during regularly scheduled operating hours and exclude activities/events priced separately. No additional discounts apply. Proof of Florida residency is required for each adult age 18 and older.
If the goat is eventually let loose into the Magic Kingdom, which I think is a safe bet, it would be fun if they made a video of the goat riding the various attractions. Disneyland did something like this several years ago in a very popular “every dog has it’s day” ad campaign. It would be easy for Walt Disney World to do something similar with the goat.
