Before we bought our latest car, I spent months reading and researching. I watched the videos, I read reviews, and I did my best to keep up on the latest auto news. One of the newer sites that I looked at was Ride.Tech, by Kelley Blue Book, which has info on everything from electric vehicles to traditional cars, and even some stories on futuristic topics like flying vehicles.
I have a fairly long commute and have really been considering an electric vehicle. It seemed like a great way to reduce my fuel and maintenance costs, along with being more environmentally friendly. One of the biggest challenges is with how fast the technology is changing. Many auto manufacturers have introduced new electric vehicle models and it can be difficult to say which one is “best” for your individual needs.
Ride.Tech had a recent article called “Three Electric Cars Under $40k With 200+ Mile Range” which helped simplify the myriad of options into a few great choices. The article talked about the Chevrolet Bolt which is a popular choice because of its relatively low price point. They also highlighted the Tesla Model 3, which is one of the most popular models in my neighborhood. I see at least a dozen Model 3 cars every day on my commute. And they discussed the benefits of the Nissan Leaf, which continues to be a very popular and reliable EV choice. If you are new to EVs or trying to decide between the multitude of EV options, this article really helps narrow things down.
In addition to covering electric & hybrid vehicles, Ride.Tech covers tech topics like self-driving cars, mobility lifestyle (like ride sharing), and they have some great advice on how to find the best rides. There’s something for everyone no matter if you are driving a car, using a ride sharing service, or looking for your next vehicle to purchase.
Researching my car purchase wasn’t all work. It was actually a lot of fin to read about the new vehicles and to figure out what car was right for my family. For those who know me, it won’t be a surprise to hear that my final car purchase came down to a tech decision. I chose one vehicle over another simply because of the infotainment system. With my long commute, I really wanted a system that made it easy to stream music from my phone and to use my phone’s map system. My second choice had an older style system that didn’t connect to my phone as well.
The worlds of tech and autos are closely connected, and it is great to have a site like Ride.Tech that covers them both.
